Additional child care leave from September 1

1. Who is entitled to additional care allowance from September 1?

The additional child care allowance may be used by parents or legal guardians of children up to 8 years of age and parents of disabled children up to 16, 18 and 24, depending on the degree of disability, if:

  • educational institution (nursery, children’s club, kindergarten, school) attended by the child has been closed due to coronavirus
  • the educational institution operates in a hybrid model and is not able to provide care to all children due to the remote learning introduced for some of the institution
  • the child’s guardian (nanny) cannot look after the child

2. During what period can employee take advantage of the additional allowance in connection with the coronavirus?

Currently, employee can take advantage of the additional care allowance from September 1 to 20, 2020. This period may be extended by the Council of Ministers.

3. How to get additional child care allowance?

4. Can both parents take advantage of the allowance?

No, still only one of the parents of the child who is caring for the child is entitled to additional care allowance.
